Who are RåBuild?

RåBuild is the new alternative to timber frame building. A modern method of construction, RåBuild uses the Thin-joint System, offering the speed of a timber frame build with the stability of a traditional stone build.

What is the Thin-Joint system?

The Thin-Joint System combines the range of high quality, accurately-dimensioned aircrete blocks with Celfix, a specially developed Thin-Joint mortar. Thin-Joint blockwork enables walls to be built very quickly without having to wait the conventional 24 hours for the mortar to set before further loading can be applied

Thin joint Mortar is cement based and supplied as a dry, pre-mixed powder in 25kg bags. It has been designed to replace the traditional sand:cement mortar. Thin joint Mortar starts to set within 10 minutes of application and approaches full design strength in just 1 to 2 hours. This enables blockwork to be built extremely quickly, and in the case of cavity wall construction independently of the outer leaf, which is normally brickwork.

Thin joint Mortar is easily mixed on site by just adding the appropriate quantities of water. It is applied with a proprietary scoop or sledge, which will create a consistent joint thickness of 2mm.

Why RåBuild?
  • A weather tight masonry structure is achieved quickly and efficiently with a single team of experts.
  • Shorter lead times are required when ordering materials as blocks are available ex-stock.
  • Unlike a timber frame build, which has to settle before the roof goes on, using RåBuild, the roof can go straight, vastly speeding up the duration of the build.
  • The aircrete blocks used in RåBuild construction are much more lightweight with a higher thermal value compared totraditional dense block. This allows you to cut down on insulation.
  • RåBuild construction can be used from slab level all the way up to securing on the roof. This reduces the number of sub-contractors required on site and eases coordination between suppliers.
  • Our RåBuild constructors are experts in their field, trained to install floors, walls and roofs at a high standard.
  • Our RåBuild constructors can install intermediate floors and secure roofs, using Sirs panels or roof trusses.
  • RåBuild can offer a full service of supply and fix.
  • With a RåBuild project, the outer leaf can be added as and when as the property will already be watertight.
  • RåBuild projects generate less wastage and large cement mixers are not required; water electricity, a scoop & bucket and a paddle mixer are all you need.

Choosing RåBuild

How – Required preparation and costs

Base course is absolutely critical – must get completely flat and built on traditional mortar mix.
